Unimotive range for automotive industry

News

Stress and load tests are essential in developing alternative drive solutions, batteries and other vehicle components. An important factor in many test procedures is the appropriate temperature. The Unimotive model series expands Huber's portfolio with new temperature control systems for direct operation with water-glycol mixtures.

The new Unimotive product range comprises high-performance heating/cooling systems specifically for applications in the automotive industry. Typical areas of application are material tests, corrosion tests and environmental simulations as well as temperature-dependent stress and load tests. The devices also provide reliable temperature control for testing paints, fuels and additives as well as for test series and quality checks on batteries, plastic parts or electronic components.

The Unimotive temperature control systems are designed for direct operation with water-ethylene glycol mixtures (e.g. Glysantin®) at working temperatures from -45 °C to +95 °C and offer the shortest cooling and heating times with cooling capacities up to 35 kW. The models are equipped as standard with a solenoid-coupled and speed-controlled pump with a maximum flow rate of 145 l/min. All Unimotive models are operated via a touchscreen controller that supports the most common data standards (including Profibus, Modbus TCP, Ethernet, OPC-UA, RS232, USB), enabling easy integration into automated industrial environments.

Flow rate control for validated measurement results
Unimotive is also convincing when it comes to flow rate control. The separately available Flow Control Cube (FCC) enable reliable measurement and control of flow and pressure in the temperature control circuit. For single-circuit control, the Flow Control Cube (FCC) is the best choice. The compact unit is simply integrated between the temperature control system and the test specimen and connected directly to the Unimotive system. The FCC unit transmits the measured values for pressure and flow to the Unimotive system, thus ensuring precise control via the integrated bypass. For multi-circuit control, the system can be expanded to include additional Multi-Flow Control Cubes.

Unimotive can also be operated with highly viscous liquids. A Heat Exchange Pump (HXP) is available for this purpose. This extension contains a heat exchanger, a circulation pump and a bypass for flow control. The HXP unit is individually adapted to your applications and thus ensures high efficiency. HXP also allows for system separation of the fluid circuits.

The optional Automated Drain & Refill System (ADR) allows the connected application to be drained with compressed air and changed using quick couplings. The drained thermal fluid is fed back into the temperature control unit and can be reused. The ADR solution thus saves time and money while protecting the environment.

For applications with high temperatures in combination with water-glycol, the new high-temperature models Unimotive XT are the right solution. The units are designed for working temperatures up to +150 °C when operating with water-glycol. Unimotive XT works for this with a fully integrated and variable pressure superimposition. The system is ready for use quickly and with little effort, because no additional infrastructure such as nitrogen gas tanks is required.

A key advantage of Unimotive is its high temperature control speed, which allows the target temperature to be transferred to the test specimen quickly and with pinpoint accuracy. Another application scenario results from the combination of Unimotive temperature control system and a climatic chamber, which allows the simultaneous control of the test specimen temperature depending on the ambient temperature.

Another typical application scenario is cyclic temperature cycling tests. For this purpose, Unimotive devices are equipped with an integrated programmer, which allows the creation of individual temperature profiles. Alternatively, remote control and setpoint specification is possible directly via automated test systems or process control systems.
